Figures Drawing September '23

This is from day four in the drawing class with Tommy. There is definitely still a lot I can improve on in terms of proportions but it was excellent practice drawing from life and becoming familiar with putting all the figure drawing and contouring to practice on a more finished, though messy, piece.

This was another drawing from the same day. We did a few warm up figure drawing and what I am most proud of about this sketch is the lack of pressure to fully realize the head. Of course some feat would probably have helped with feeling the weight of the figure some more but the lean is there and it does feel like the beginning of a figure.

In contrast this is from day one. It is much more difficult to find the direction and weight the fugue has. The feat also aren't holding the weight and the arms at the top are getting mixed up with the head and there is not much connection between the shoulders and the arm. I do like the bit of a line for the spine but hit would have been better to lead it through the entire figure as a bearing to build off of.

This is another pair of figures from day one. The one on the left is somewhat better but it still doesn't carry enough weight on the feat. However, it is easy to see the bend and curve of the soldiers. The other one is a bit more disjointed and has a little more problems with proportions. It is a beginning figure drawing with less searching lines. I was getting out of the idea that my sketches had to be neat. Getting the idea out of my fingers that their shouldn't be so many lines in certain places. I learned to be messing with my lines where it needed to be messing but also to be free and drawl quickly what I see to give a good baseline for further drawing and even what will become more finished works.
